Fix dangerous potholes in Bushey Village

🚧 CAMPAIGN VICTORY – POTHOLES ON BUSHEY HIGH STREET 🚧

Victory for our campaign and our petition which was signed by 280+ residents!

Hertfordshire County Council has now confirmed that:

  • Resurfacing works are planned for the section of Bushey High Street between Bushey House Beaumont Care Home and Bournehall Road.
  • Further investigations into the structural condition of the road will be carried out.
  • The council says it intends to progress the works as swiftly as possible.

Over recent weeks, Hertsmere First has worked with residents to document the deteriorating road surface. We have photographed dozens of potholes, formally pressed the County Council for action, and submitted a petition that attracted over 280 signatures. Together, we made it impossible for this issue to be ignored.

While we welcome the council’s commitments, our campaign is not over yet.

We will press Hertfordshire County Council to provide a timetable for the resurfacing works, and we are well aware that many dangerous potholes still remain on Bushey High Street and surrounding roads. We will not rest until the work is completed and our village has the safe, well-maintained roads that residents deserve.

A huge thank you to everyone who signed the petition, and to Murray Lee and the Kemp Place Residents’ Association for working with Hertsmere First to stand up for Bushey.

When residents come together, we get results.

Sign our petition to get Bushey Village potholes fixed

It is still not to late to sign our petition to fix the dangerous potholes in Bushey Village:

To The Executive Member for Highways, Cllr Steven Giles-Medhurst and Deputy Executive Member Heather Campbell at Hertfordshire County Council

The High Street in Bushey Village is an accident waiting to happen. Ridden with potholes, it looks rundown and presents a danger to the public as vehicles swerve to avoid the deep craters.

On 4th June 2026, on behalf of residents I raised serious concerns about the delamination of the road and potholes with Hertfordshire County Council, supported by photographic evidence.

Despite the safety implications to both road users and pedestrians, I have yet to even receive an acknowledgement.

This is unacceptable. Hertfordshire County Council has been allocated an additional £180m in central government funding for road repair,  so we know that the money is there.

We the undersigned demand that repairs must be carried out urgently.

We are proud of our Village and we deserve better.

Cllr Marc Amron – Leader Hertsmere First /Bushey Park Ward Councillor and Murray Lee – Chairman of Kemp Place Residents’ Association on behalf of all Bushey residents
