Supporting SURGE's campaign for GP provision in Borehamwood

Campaign for GP surgery in Borehamwood South

Surge campaign for GP provision in Borehamwood South

Borehamwood desperately needs an additional GP surgery. Residents are finding it impossible to get an appointment. The Director’s Arms was identified as a site for the surgery. We have had no clear answers from either the council's ruling administration or the NHS as to why this site can now not be used as a surgery. An additional surgery was a manifesto promise of the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 elections and we call on Labour to deliver on its promise of a much needed additional surgery in Borehamwood.

Question from Cllr Graeme Alexander at Full Council

Hertsmere Borough Council 26 March 2025

Working with Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council (EBTC)

EBTC letter to NHS

The Environment & Planning Committee of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council expressed disappointment at the removal of the medical facility from proposals to develop the former Directors Arms site. The committee was concerned that the growing population of Borehamwood has placed increasing pressure on primary healthcare services, and it considers the absence of a new healthcare provision within this development represents a missed opportunity. The Town Council wrote the below letter to the NHS requesting that they do something about the chronic lack of GP provision in Borehamwood.
