The Hertsmere First Civility Pledge
We believe politics should be about public service, not personal attacks.
We are proud to sign this Civility Pledge and call on all elected councillors in Hertsmere to do the same.
As elected representatives, we pledge to:
- Debate issues respectfully, without resorting to abuse or mockery
- Avoid personal and anonymous attacks online and offline
- Challenge policies, not people
- Never use our platforms to spread misinformation or inflame division
- Respond to criticism with facts and calm discussion
- Treat opponents and residents with dignity, even when we disagree
We believe this is the minimum standard the public deserves. Let’s raise the tone together
